The Atlanta Braves had 11 hits and scored 10 runs on Friday night with a stacked lineup. For some reason, Brian Snitker made several changes on Saturday.

On Friday night against the Kansas City Royals, the Braves won relatively easily, 10-3, on 11 hits and five home runs. That sheer power was enough to consider keeping the lineup the same on Saturday. Why not roll with what’s working?

Here is how the Braves lined up on Friday night:

  1. Ronald Acuña Jr.
  2. Matt Olson
  3. Austin Riley
  4. Sean Murphy
  5. Eddie Rosario
  6. Ozzie Albies
  7. Vaughn Grissom
  8. Kevin Pillar
  9. Sam Hilliard

Acuña Jr., Olson, Riley, Murphy and Hilliard all hit home runs. Acuña Jr.,Olson and Murphy all had more than two hits. This was against a right-handed pitcher in Brady Singer.

Saturday’s lineup is a little different, of course:

  1. Ronald Acuña Jr.
  2. Matt Olson
  3. Austin Riley
  4. Sean Murphy
  5. Ozzie Albies
  6. Vaughn Grissom
  7. Marcell Ozuna
  8. Kevin Pillar
  9. Eli White

So, what’s the problem? Well, just the sight of Ozuna’s name in the lineup is enough to give Atlanta baseball fans an aneurysm.

Ozuna was the first name which stuck out to Braves fans, and there’s a reason for that. He’s hitting under .100 for the season, but continues to get chances.

Despite Sam Hilliard’s home run on Friday night, Snitker decided to roll with Eli White in the No. 9 slot.

It’s important to note that Saturday’s lineup is different because the Braves are scheduled to face a left-handed pitcher, assuming the rain delay doesn’t last hours on end.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Atlanta injury-wise. In the standings, though, they’re right where they should be. Assuming Max Fried and others come back soon, the Braves should build on their NL East lead.
