NBA Rumors: Where’s Kyrie Irving moving now? The latest say LA
Former Lakers player Matt Barnes said of the franchise: “When the Lakers want someone, they get him.”
Well, if the Los Angeles Lakers want Kyrie Irving, they could go and get him as early as this summer.
The Dallas Mavericks were recently fined for tanking ahead of the postseason, and the Kyrie Irving-Luka Doncic experiment appears to be going as well as the Durant-Irving-Harden one in Brooklyn. Not too well.
When Irving requested a trade out of the Nets, the Lakers were one of the top teams rumored to pursue him, but the Mavs beat LA to the punch and seemingly secured their franchise duo — despite the early struggles, Dallas may still be trying to keep Irving long-term and hash out their chemistry issues this offseason.
On the Lakers’ side of things, the team appears focused on retaining their current unit that helped win 18 of the last 26 games and could be primed for a deep postseason run. That includes re-signing players like De’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves.
For now, Kyrie Irving to the Lakers and teaming up again with LeBron is a mere pipe dream.Kyrie and LeBron may not have a clear future together, but they’ll always have Cleveland.
