9. Racing Louisville
Strength: A wide range of talent
Racing aren’t the underdog that everyone expected them to be, forcing talented sides into ties in their first three matches of the season. The Louisville squad seems determined to find a way, and they’ve got lots of different playing styles to ensure success against almost any side they face. Whether it’s a breakaway run from Ary Borges, or a bit of fancy defensive work from Carson Pickett or Abby Erceg, Racing has a mixed bag of strategies they can employ against opponents, causing surprise and changing it up from match to match. It’s not only entertaining, it’s very effective.
Weakness: Consistency
With the diverse approach from Racing, they seem to be struggling sometimes with chemistry and having a fully flushed-out game plan. Their energy and strategy vary from half to half, with the team looking dangerous typically in one half and then falling in the next. We saw this on Saturday when LA managed to come back in the second half to force Racing into a tie. They performed the opposite way against the Spirit, falling in the first half before executing a second-half comeback. If they can get this energy nailed down in both halves, everyone will have to Run with Racing to catch up.
