9. Julio Jones

Is the book closed on a career that had this player in the discussion for the best wide receiver in the league for many years? You may recall that the Atlanta Falcons gave up plenty to move up to the sixth overall pick in the 2011 draft to secure the services of this University of Alabama standout Julio Jones.

His 10-year stay in Atlanta was impressive. It added up to 848 caches, 12,896 yards and 60 scores. There were also eight playoff games in which he caught 61 passes for 834 yards and six touchdowns. Jones was named to seven Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors twice.

Injuries have certainly taken their toll on Jones in recent years. The Falcons traded him to Tennessee in 2021 but he played in just 10 contests, totaled 31 receptions and scored one touchdown. There were six catches for 62 yards in a playoff loss to the Bengals. The Titans cut him loose after only one season.

There were questions regarding Jones and how much football he had left roughly a year ago when he signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He wound up playing in only 10 games for Todd Bowles’ team this past season, catching 24 passes for 299 yards and two scores. Jones also grabbed seven passes for 74 yards and one TD in the club’s playoff loss to the Cowboys. Will he be with an NFL team in 2023?
