5. Ty Law

He was the first pick in what was a superb draft class by then-New England Patriots head coach Bill Parcells. Cornerback Ty Law was the 23rd overall selection that year and he would go on to be one of the premier players at his position for well over a decade.

He had a nose for the football and a penchant for the big play. His tenacity was a big reason the New England defense was a huge factor in the franchise winning three Super Bowls in a four-year span (although he missed most of the 2004 seasons and Super Bowl XXXIX).

Law would suit up for a total of four teams during his 15-year stay in the NFL, 10 of those in Foxborough. He finished his NFL career with 53 interceptions, returning seven of those for scores. There was also his 47-yard pick-six at the expense of Rams’ quarterback Kurt Warner in New England’s 20-17 upset win in Super Bowl XXXVI. Two years later, he picked off Colts’ legend Peyton Manning three times in the 2003 AFC Championship Game.

Law joined the Jets in 2005 and led the NFL with 10 interceptions. There would be stints with the Chiefs and a second season with the Jets (2008) before playing with the Broncos in 2009. He was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
