Trade Number 3: The Raiders offer more picks, plus a position of need to the 49ers for Trey Lance
Finally, the 49ers might see some competition build with respect to acquiring Lance, especially as the draft rumors continue to come out in regard to the quarterback position. Recently, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the doesn’t anticipate a quarterback being taken at number two or three overall, which would make things interesting for the Raiders.
Yet, that could all end up being smoke, and Vegas could be out a top-4 quarterback by the time they’re on the board at no. 7 overall. At this point in the game, we don’t have a clue what’s going to happen, and you can probably count everything as smoke until the draft officially begins.
Now, in this last trade package, the Raiders give up a reserve tackle, which is a position the 49ers also need some depth at. Brandon Parker goes to San Francisco, along with a pair of second-rounders, like the previous two deals.
The big difference in this one, though, is the Raiders giving the 49ers another pair of picks, one in the fourth round this year and the other in the fifth round in 2024. All in all, San Francisco gets four picks and a player for a quarterback they are clearly not confident in. Not bad for the Niners, but also, it’s a risk for Las Vegas.
Could the risk for Lance pay off?
