Fresh off of two phenomenal and loaded tournaments at The Masters and RBC Heritage, it’s now time for the PGA Tour’s unique trip to the Bayou at TPC Louisiana for the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. It’s the only team event on the Tour schedule, which makes it quite interesting.
Given the two preceding events, the star power isn’t crazy for this tournament but there are still some big names in the mix, including the returns of the 2022 champions at the Zurich, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.

Zurich Classic format 2023
With this being a team event, the Zurich Classic format is much different. There will be two rounds of alternate shot (Friday and Sunday) and two rounds of four-ball (Thursday and Saturday) for each team, meaning that two formats for team play will be in the mix. Meanwhile, there will be a cut as the Top 33 teams and ties will move onto the weekend to compete for the tournament title.

The week after a two-week stretch of The Masters and elevated RBC Heritage, it’s no surprise that the Zurich Classic field is a bit week. Defending champions Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are teaming up again and are joined in Avondale by the team of Billy Horschel and Sam Burns, the team of Max Homa and Collin Morikawa, the team of Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, and the team of Sungjae Im and Keith Mitchell as the headliners.
