Cowboys show Packers right way to work with franchise QB

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said the team is asking for his input regarding certain prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft.
When an NFL team invests a bunch of money long term into their quarterbacks, there is also a goal to ensure that the relationship continues going strong. One way to do that is to ask for their input in regards to the roster and take their opinions into consideration. Teams want to avoid having a situation in which the relationship between team and quarterback deteriorates.
The Dallas Cowboys are ensuring that that doesn’t happen with Dak Prescott.
During an appearance at the Children’s Cancer Fund “Light it Up” Gala on Friday night, Prescott told reporters that he will be looking over tape of wide receiver prospects the Cowboys are considering selecting in next week’s NFL Draft, and will likely contact them. Prescott did the same thing last year.

In regards to last year’s draft, they selected Jalen Tolbert out of South Alabama with their third-round pick. Tolbert didn’t have much of an impact in his rookie season with the Cowboys, catching just two passes for 12 yards on three targets. But there is a chance he takes a leap in his second year.
The Cowboys wide receiver corps was hurt tremendously this past season after the team traded Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns as a way to free up cap space. While CeeDee Lamb had a legitimately great year, there were no solid pass catching options behind him and Michael Gallup to truly make defenses pay. Meanwhile, Cooper recorded 78 receptions for 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns in his first season with Cleveland.
This offseason, the Cowboys made numerous changes to the offense, including moving on from coordinator Kellen Moore with head coach Mike McCarthy taking over as play-caller. But they did make one big move in acquiring wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans. With that, the Cowboys top three wide receivers will be Lamb, Cooks and Gallup. But, it never hurts to add more help at the position, especially if the draft board calls for it.
As we all know, you never know what will happen in the NFL Draft. Let’s remember, no one thought Lamb would fall to Dallas in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
