Bills: Predicting primetime TV games for 2023
The Buffalo Bills are one of the NFL’s most intriguing teams heading into the 2023 season. How many primetime games will they be scheduled for?
Few NFL teams have been closer to winning it all without hoisting a Lombardi Trophy in recent memory than the Buffalo Bills. A bona fide Super Bowl contender, Buffalo has a great team with a difficult path out of the AFC as the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals have become postseason tormentors.
The fact that the Bills have an explosive offense headlined by one of the league’s best quarterbacks in Josh Allen makes them one of the NFL’s most interesting teams in 2023. It wouldn’t be surprising in the least to see Buffalo get featured prominently on the NFL’s 2023 schedule.
How many primetime games will the Bills get in 2023?
As a general rule, the NFL tries not to have most teams exceed five primetime appearances in order to ensure that each of its broadcast partners has access to the league’s most interesting teams. The Bills will be a highly-demanded squad thanks to their intriguing schedule, which features matchups against the NFC East and AFC West in addition to the stacked AFC East matchups.
Placement games will see Buffalo host the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers while traveling to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. The latter contest will be noteworthy since that was the site of the game where Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field, leading to the game’s cancellation.
Expect the NFL to spread the love for the Bills across their primetime packages, including three appearances on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The Bengals game will also receive a ton of interest since you have to figure the NFL will take the occasion to put the game back in primetime in order to honor the first responders who saved Hamlin’s life.
