This NFL Draft trade would fill the Buckeye void in Mike Vrabel’s Double-Horseshoed heart

This proposed NFL Draft trade between the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans could give Mike Vrabel an answered prayer in a fellow Ohio State legend C.J. Stroud to save his team.

The only NFL Draft day trade any of us should care about is getting Ohio State quarterback onto Mike Vrabel’s Tennessee Titans.

In Peter King’s latest Football Morning in America column, he had the Arizona Cardinals trading down from No. 3 to No. 11 in a deal with the Titans in his mock draft. Of course, there, they are taking C.J. Stroud. He prefaced this by saying he would have screwed up his whole mock anyway by having Arizona taking fellow Ohio State star Paris Johnson Jr. at No. 3, but this slight shake-up in the draft order makes it way more interesting.

This proposed trade would have two first-time general managers orchestrating a deal that could reshape the overall trajectory of both of their franchises. It would allow for former Titans front-office executive Monti Ossenfort to recoup some more precious draft capital to build a winner around Kyler Murray for Jonathan Gannon. This deal also gives Vrabel and Ran Carthon a rockstar!

Of course, this is all contingent on the Houston Texans screwing up most horrifically by taking Texas Tech pass-rusher Tyree Wilson at No. 2 over a quarterback AND Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills with this rampant Houstonian nonsense. I cannot take it anymore!

Mike Vrabel and C.J. Stroud partnering up in Nashville is Ohio State perfection

Even though the Titans have plenty of quarterbacks on their roster, they seem to have fallen out of favor with last year’s third-round pick Malik Willis out of Liberty. Joshua Dobbs left for the Cleveland Browns this offseason because that future astronaut has some NFL jerseys to collect first. While Ryan Tannehill could keep the seat warm, Stroud does project as the next Derek Carr.

Had Carr played for the Titans, he would have been their best quarterback since the late, great Steve McNair (RIP). You can win a lot of games with a quarterback like Carr, especially in a division that never has more than two teams that know what they are doing at any given time. Tennessee may be a regression candidate going forward, but drafting Stroud resets the competitive life cycle.

To be fair, I don’t see Vrabel wanting to stick around in Nashville if Carthon wants to go ahead with a full-blown rebuild. If that rebuild is centered around Stroud, then Vrabel may make an exception. Otherwise, he could be in line to replace Ryan Day in Columbus should Buckeye Nation turn on him faster than you can say John Cooper. Either way, Stroud to the Titans at No. 3 grabs my attention.

Tennessee moving up to No. 3 and getting Stroud is the best possible outcome for them this year.
