Weapons the Packers can select in 2023 NFL Draft to stick it to Aaron Rodgers: Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa

In the second round, the Packers could look at finding a future stud at the tight end position. A great value and respectable selection would be Iowa’s Sam LaPorta, who has been somewhat forgotten about in recent weeks. Dalton Kincaid and Darnell Washington are garnering a whole lot more hype than LaPorta, as of late, but we can’t forget about the former Hawkeye.

LaPorta is the perfect type of tight end for Love. He runs routes like a wide receiver, and possesses great speed for the position (a 4.59 40-yard dash). But, he’s also a man of brute strength who breaks tackles like Derrick Henry at times (20 broken tackles last season with the Hawkeyes).

Coming from an offense that has struggled to pass the football consistently for a while now, LaPorta has put up a respectable 111 catches for 1,327 yards and four scores over the past two seasons.

If you’re looking for someone to block in the run game, LaPorta might not be the ideal pick. But, if you want another true weapon for Love, this is your guy at pick no. 45.
