NFL Rumors: Jordan Addison wants to play for Chiefs, makes his pitch
With the 2023 NFL Draft being in Kansas City, there are going to be a ton of fans of the Super Bowl champion Chiefs in the building awaiting the last pick in the first round so they can go crazy. But who the Chiefs select is another matter entirely.
There are a number of players who have been mentioned, from Jahmyr Gibbs, to a number of edge rushers, offensive linemen and wide receivers. But one of those receivers, USCās Jordan Addison, is making his case for Kansas City to take him.
And thereās a good reason behind that.
Addison spent his final college season with the USC Trojans, catching balls from quarterback Caleb Williams, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft who has drawn legitimate Patrick Mahomes comparisons. The receiver was asked about those comps and said he sees where they come from. More importantly, though, he made his case as to how that would help him transition to the NFL if the Chiefs drafted him, via Chiefs Wire.
āThat would help a lot,ā Addison said. āFirst of all, just being a rookie and all of the stuff that youāve got to go through. So having a leader like (Patrick Mahomes), who has proven success. Him having confidence in you, thatās going to be great.ā
Certainly sounds like a player who is campaigning for the Chiefs to take him with the 31st pick ā or at least trying to manifest that selection into existence. But with Kansas City losing JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in free agency, the need is there. So perhaps the Mahomes-Addison connection is, in fact, something weāll see soon enough.
