Today’s Premier League news includes incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s stance on Romelu Lukaku, Kalvin Phillips has been linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund could be a destination for Conor Gallagher.

Premier League news: Romelu Lukaku to hold talks with Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku’s loan at Inter Milan expires this summer and under the incoming Chelsea manager Pochettino, he could be given a lifeline at his parent club. The Blues are in need of a striker and Lukaku would be the missing piece to their very expensive squad.

Chelsea paid £97.5 million for Lukaku back in 2021 and instead of the club forking out even more cash on a new striker, it would make sense to play the one that they have already paid for.

According to the Daily Telegraph, “Lukaku will be asked whether or not he wants to try to revive his Chelsea career under proposed permanent head coach Mauricio Pochettino as attention turns to which players could thrive with the Argentine at Stamford Bridge.”

Another option for Pochettino could be to try and sign Harry Kanye from Tottenham Hotspur. Kane has just one year left on his contract and Spurs would risk losing him on a free transfer if they do not cash in on him this summer. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would not be up for selling him to a rival club.

Premier League news: Kalvin Phillips to Liverpool

Kalvin Phillips’ time at Manchester City has not gone to plan and though this has largely been down to injuries he has made just seven appearances in the Premier League this season.

The Daily Star has reported that “Liverpool want to sign Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips in a £35m deal this summer.” The Reds have an aging midfield with Jordan Henderson and James Milner both on the wrong side of 30, whilst Fabinho is 29.

Jurgen Klopp’s side recently ruled themselves out of signing Jude Bellingham from Dortmund due to the price of the midfielder. Phillips would be a much cheaper option for Liverpool which would allow the club to strengthen in other areas too.

Premier League news: Conor Gallagher to Dortmund

With Bellingham likely to be on his way out of Dortmund to join one of Europe’s top sides, the German club will be looking for his replacement in midfield. Chelsea’s Gallagher could be the man to fit the mold.

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Gallagher is “on the list of #BVB confirmed. They are monitoring his situation. But nothing advanced at this stage. No concrete talks. His future at Chelsea is open. Understand he could really leave Chelsea in the summer. Valuation of around €50m.”

Gallagher is 23 so joining Dortmund who have a history of developing English talent would make sense. The Bundesliga side has nurtured the careers of Jadon Sancho and Bellingham. However, Gallagher has still made 28 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League this season. If he is part of Pochettino’s plans then he should stay and fight for his place at the club.
