3 Milwaukee Bucks who definitely won’t be back next season
By Ian Levy
2. Jae Crowder
The Bucks were linked with Crowder in numerous trade rumors as he sat out the early part of the season, frustrated with a reduced role on the Phoenix Suns. When he finally arrived in Milwaukee he seemed ready to go, nailing 43.6 percent of his 3s in 18 games. However, he was a complete no-show against Miami — shooting 3-of-13 from the field and missing all six of his 3-point attempts across 41 minutes in the series.
Crowder is a few years younger than Matthews, his more residual defensive impact and the versatility to defend multiple positions. But he’s inconsistent enough as an outside shooter that he doesn’t provide a big spacing impact and he offers next to nothing in terms of secondary creation.
Crowder could be valuable to the Bucks in a similar role next season but if they really want to improve, they need a big wing or two who provides more than he does that they could put ahead of him in the rotation. Given what he just went through with Phoenix, he may not be interested in that kind of limited role or the reduced salary the Bucks would be willing to offer with it.
