The Eagles landed Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter in the 2023 NFL Draft. Fans think the rest of the league is going to regret letting that happen.
The Philadelphia Eagles just made it to the Super Bowl, narrowly missing out on lifting the trophy themselves. They signed Jalen Hurts to a long-term deal and got Jason Kelce to swerve retirement for another season.
So Howie Roseman and and company were already doing pretty well this offseason. Then a top talent practically fell in their lap in the NFL Draft.
On Thursday, the Eagles moved up one spot to No. 9 overall to select Georgia’s Jalen Carter, a player many considered to be worthy of a No. 1 overall selection under different circumstances.
The pick isn’t without risk. Carter pled no-contest to charges stemming from a street racing incident that left a Georgia teammate and staffer dead. He showed up to his Pro Day overweight.
Still, Carter’s outstanding ability outweighed those concerns for Philadelphia, which will hope to put the defensive tackle in the right environment to thrive in the NFL.
NFL Twitter saw Carter ending up with the Eagles as the rich getting richer.

The NFL let the Eagles get Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter in back-to-back drafts 😂 offensive coordinators about to be in hell.

Eagles nearly won the Super Bowl, then added one of the most dominant interior rushers in the last decade. Howie Roseman must be stopped.

The NFL is going to massively regret letting Jalen Carter reunite with Jordan Davis.

Yeah, if Carter works out, the Eagles may have just made the best pick of the draft. Carter is a bonafide monster in the defensive trenches. If he can keep his nose clean and commit to being great, he could anchor Philadelphia’s defense for years to come.
The Eagles already had a formidable front with the likes of Haasan Reddick, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Jordan Davis and Josh Sweat. Carter should only make it stronger.
