Steelers draft grades for every 2023 pick: Joey Porter Jr. a dream, Darnell Washingon a welcome risk
Round 7, Pick 241 — Purdue CB Corey Trice
The Steelers added another lengthy cornerback in the draft Corey Trice, a former safety who has dealt with injury issues.
The ACL injury that kept him out in 2021 is obviously a concern that knocked Trice down into the final round. Still, ESPN ranked him 106th among all draft prospects. Taking him in the seventh round feels like a worthwhile.
Pittsburgh is banking on his size at 6-foot-3 and overall athleticism to make the pick pay off. And if cornerback doesn’t work out for Trice, they could always shift him to safety.

Round 7, Pick 251 — Maryland OG Spencer Anderson
The final pick for the Steelers was, unsurprisingly, the least inspiring.
Spencer Anderson was a three-year starter at Maryland and he has good size at 6-foot-5, 309 pounds. He displayed positional flexibility for the Terps but his NFL future looks like it’s probably at right guard where he played in 2022.
ESPN had him rated 320th in their prospect rankings, so this wasn’t a “we can’t believe they got him there!” kind of pick like much of the rest of the draft for Pittsburgh. Still, Anderson could be a bit of a utility man for the Steelers if he can make the roster.
