60. Scouting Report. DL. 5. player. Pick Analysis. LSU. Jaquelin Roy

Vikings Draft Grades for Jaquelin Roy: B

Though the Vikings have to like what they have on the defensive end spots in their 3-4 base alignment with Dean Lowry and Harrison Phillips, the nose tackle is a bit more of a question with Khyiris Tonga slated to start there. And that’s where the Jaquelin Roy pick comes into play.

The LSU product isn’t going to wow anyone with his athleticism at 305 pounds but the fact of the matter is that he was likely drafted to be a run stuffer. As a strong, disciplined player on the defensive line, he can provide that right away and help fortify a Minnesota run defense that was a bit too leaky at times last year.

60. QB. BYU. Jaren Hall. 5. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Vikings Draft Grades for Jaren Hall: A

Is Jaren Hall going to be the Kirk Cousins replacement that fans have been asking for? It remains to be seen, though the answer is probably no.

Having said that, there is at least a slim chance that’s the case, which is what makes this pick intriguing. Hall is undersized and has some concerning injury history, but he has a nice arm, is clearly tough, and is just an impressive quarterback even without elite traits. He was better — by a lot — than several of the quarterbacks who came off the board before him, but he can be a developmental player that can at least push Cousins and make a case as the successor in 2023.

UAB. 7. player. 60. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB. DeWayne McBride

Vikings Draft Grades for DeWayne McBride: B+

Given that it seems more and more likely that Dalvin Cook will be leaving Minnesota this offseason, this pick always made a ton of sense. DeWayne McBride is a strong runner with a good frame and great balance in all levels of the field. He should be a solid short-yardage back and, while not a superstar, he is more than capable of spelling Alexander Mattison whenever the veteran who’s likely to take up the mantle as the starter needs a rest.
