2024 NFL Draft: Way too early mock draft has Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr. teaming up, Bucs finding Brady’s successor
Early 2024 NFL Draft mock draft: Packers replace David Bakhtiari, Raiders find franchise QB in Quinn Ewers
Had Olumuyiwa Fashanu entered the 2023 draft, he would’ve been a surefire first-round pick and perhaps the first offensive tackle off of the board. Instead, he returned to Penn State to get his master’s degree.
Washington would gladly use a Top 5 pick on the Nittany Lions standout, though, even as the Commanders still need to figure out quarterback. Fashanu is an elite pass-blocker, not allowing a sack in 2022, and should help whatever solution the team comes up with at QB be in the best spot to succeed.
I’m admittedly higher on JC Latham early in looking at the 2024 NFL Draft than some but I think it’s warranted given the pedigree and his work at right tackle. He didn’t allow a sack in nearly 500 snaps in pass protection last season and has the elite physical traits NFL teams look for in these types of players.
David Bakhtiari has been plagued by injuries in recent years and, if that continues, the Packers could be looking for a replacement at left tackle. Moving Zach Tom, who excelled in 2022, over and putting Latham on the right side would make a ton of sense as the next step.
The Raiders are another team that, after signing veteran Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency, was content to push the quarterback question until at least 2024. With Quinn Ewers on the board, though, they are going to make the move to get the mullet (or former mullet) to Vegas.
Ewers was an elite recruit for Ohio State before transferring to Texas, but his first season as the starter was a bit up and down. However, I firmly believe he played through injury most of the year, accounting for a lot of his accuracy issues. He has a massive arm and his top-tier playmaking flashed at times. With a year in Austin under his belt, I expect him to insert himself right behind Williams and Maye in the 2024 QB class.
Brock Bowers might actually be one of the five best players in the 2024 NFL Draft class as the Georgia star has been the best tight end in college football from the time he arrived in Athens and took the field immediately.
Size is the one concern for Bowers as he’s a bit slight in comparison to some tight ends, but his ability to get open, make plays on the ball, and win after the catch make him an elite weapon, one the Titans would love to have in an offense lacking in that department right now.
