1. Jason Heyward hopes to regain his reputation with the Dodgers

Heyward is playing on a one-year contract worth $100,000, supplemented by $22 million from the Cubs after he was released from his contract in November. He wasn’t what the Cubs hoped to get, but he was a key motivator to the World Series win, known for his rain delay speech in Game 7.

He’s played in 21 games, hitting three doubles, three home runs, and seven RBI while slashing .240/.328/.480 with a .765 OPS.

While getting some playing time in the majors, he’s quite possibly feeling less pressure to be “the guy” for the Dodgers as they have a loaded roster with stars, including Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. It will be interesting to see how Heyward continues to play this season and if it earns him another contract.
