As if things could not get any worse for the New York Yankees, they received even more bad news related to starting pitcher Carlos Rodon’s injury.

The New York Yankees are not having the best of luck on the injury front. Add the fact that this is essentially the same roster as last season, and you can sense why there is panic among the fanbase.

Superstar outfielder Aaron Judge is on the 10-day injured list with a hip strain. Giancarlo Stanton and Josh Donaldson are sidelined with hamstring strains. Relief pitcher Lou Trivino is set to undergo Tommy John surgery. Then, the Yankees fanbase got another injury update from manager Aaron Boone, and it wasn’t good

Carlos Rodon, the team’s big free agent addition, had been out with a left forearm strain but his recovery has been stalled due to a back injury. Despite the belief from Boone days ago that Rodon’s injury was minor, he revealed on Tuesday that the starting pitcher “can’t get over the hump with his back.”

Carlos Rodon’s recovery once again stalled by back injury

Boone said that Rodon is able to throw off of a mound, but the back issue is messing with his pitching mechanics. Rodon isn’t dealing with back pain, just back stiffness.

Rodon had a CT scan in recent weeks and this past Friday, he threw 22 pitches in a bullpen session. But, the back stiffness is presenting itself as an issue for Rodon.

The Yankees starting pitching rotation was once their strength entering this past offseason, and they decided to bring in Rodon, who had been the starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants in 2022. The deal is for six-years, worth a total of $162 million.

Last year, Rodon recorded a 2.88 ERA, a 1.028 WHIP, 237 strikeouts and 52 walks over 178.0 innings pitched (31 starts).

Now, Yankees fans will wait for another update on Rodon’s back to see when he will be cleared to make his debut with the team. With the Yankees
