Guardians vs. Yankees prediction and odds for Wednesday, May 3 (Fade Yanks amidst injuries)
By Reed Wallach
The Yankees have been crushed by injuries so far this season, reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge hit the IL this week with a hip strain and prized offseason signing Carlos Rodon hasn’t even pitched yet due to injury.
New York will need to tread water long enough in arguably the most difficult division in baseball this season, the AL East, despite not having the likes of Judge or Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup. However, that’ll be tough sledding against the Cleveland Guardians star pitcher Shane Bieber on Wednesday night.
Let’s check out the betting odds and target the best bet for this one:

Guardians vs. Yankees prediction and pick
Bieber continues to perform like an All-Star, pitching to a 3.11 through six starts, but his strikeout rate is way down to about six per nine innings this season. A fully healthy Yankees team could give him some trouble, but not this iteration of the Yankees.
I like Bieber to keep a lid on the Yanks on Wednesday, and I can’t say the same for New York starter Clarke Schmidt.
Cleveland isn’t a stellar offense by any means, they hit below .230 as a unit, but Schmidt has struggled in his second full season in the big leagues as the depth of the Yankees pitching staff continues to be tested with the likes of Rodon out. Schmidt has an ERA of 6.84 and is struggling to avoid bats as he has allowed over 12 hits per nine innings.
Simply put, the Yankees aren’t a competitive team at the moment and the Guardians are more than capable enough to scratch together enough runs to give Bieber the necessary support to get a series ending win against the Yankees.
