3 New York Yankees who won’t be on the roster by June 1

1. Isiah Kiner-Falefa won’t be on the Yankees roster by June 1
Being one of the Yankees’ two super-utility men, Isiah Kiner-Falefa has a few valuable traits, but not much more. IKF thus far has played games at both third base and centerfield, as he has the ability to play every position including catcher at a league average or above level defensively. Offensively, however, is a different story.
Through 22 games, IKF is hitting .189 with a OPS of .420, without a single extra-base hit this year. he has struck out 8-of-53 at-bats, and he has only had three walks. When the Yankees traded for IKF, it was expected of him to be able to get on base at all costs, have good disciplined at-bats, and walk. He has not been able to get on base at all as a Yankee.
In what is now his primary position, he has saved 1.0 out above average and has adjusted well in centerfield, having a total OF success rate of 92% on catchable balls. He is fast and durable, and although he has his value traits, time is running out.
It may be a stretch to call June 1 the end of his time, but it seems like there is not going to be much roster space left to carry the -0.4 WAR of Kiner-Falefa. However, there is potential value to get back in trading him. That value could amount to more than both Hicks and Calhoun.
