3 Atlanta Braves who won’t be on the roster by June 1
The Atlanta Braves have been cruising to start the 2023 season, but these three players likely won’t be around for the ride into June.
For the most part, if you saw the Atlanta Braves sitting at 21-10 to start the 2023 season, you would believe that everything had gone right for them this season. That is indeed their record entering Thursday’s series finale against the Marlins, but saying that everything has gone right would be wholly untrue.
The Braves have been battered with injuries throughout this season to numerous key players, including the likes of Michael Harris II, Max Fried, and Travis d’Arnaud, among others. Yet, they’ve kept putting out a lineup and continued to win games as one of the favorites in the National League.
As some of these guys — and some more — return from injuries, though, we’re going to see some shakeups on the Braves roster. And while fans have been asking all season for Marcell Ozuna to get off of the Braves roster, he’s not actually all that likely to be gone. Not only have Brian Snitker and the front office continued to give him opportunities, but the series in Miami had him showing signs of life.
So who are the players who won’t be on the Braves roster by the start of June? There are three pretty clear candidates to be moved down by that point in the season.

3. Chadwick Tromp won’t be on the Braves roster by June 1
It certainly hasn’t been the hardship that it would’ve been for most teams when Travis d’Arnaud went to the IL for the Braves after suffering a concussion during a collision at the plate. The offseason trade for Sean Murphy put the club in a massively advantageous spot in that regard.
Having said that, in need of depth, the organization did call up 28-year-old Chadwick Tromp to deal with some depth. Murphy has still been making the majority of starts but we’ve seen Tromp on occasion since the d’Arnaud injury.
In five games, Tromp hasn’t been all that good for Atlanta if we’re being as honest as possible. He’s just 2-for-14 with six strikeouts, though he does have a double and an RBI to his credit. Even still, an OPS of .357 isn’t something that’s going to convince a major-league team to keep you on the roster.
Though the recovery from the concussion has been slower than expected (and than he would like) for d’Arnaud, he is nearing a return in the coming weeks. When that happens, the Braves will be more than content to have him and Murphy on the big-league roster and then send Tromp back down to the minors.
