Jets: One wideout is already the odd man out with Aaron Rodgers

Garrett Wilson is already the odd man out with Aaron Rodgers, as he’s taken other Jets to sporting events around New York City.

For Aaron Rodgers, this offseason is a time to bond with his new teammates in New York. Rodgers worked out a trade to the Jets, as the Packers thought it was best to move on with Jordan Love as the centerpiece of their franchise.

Rodgers has a year or two left in him, and New York is primed for a Super Bowl run if all goes well. Of course, all does not always go well.

The new No. 8 has been seen at recent New York sporting events supporting the local teams with teammates, including Knicks and Rangers playoff games. One player in particular wants in.

Garrett Wilson is expected to be Rodgers top target next season, though he’ll likely take a by-committee approach at first. Wilson is an established receiver at the NFL level. To leave him out of the fun is…unusual, and likely to be rectified soon.

Jets: What are reasonable expectations for Aaron Rodgers?

All jokes aside, Wilson is thrilled to be playing with Rodgers. Most of the young Jets are starstruck to be performing alongside a Hall-of-Fame quarterback:

"“It takes a little time just to realize,” Wilson said, per NFL.com. “Still probably hasn’t sunk in all the way until I caught the first ball from him. That’s a legend right there, that’s a Hall of Fame player, and we’re all blessed to be able to … You know, this is something 20 years from now, 30 years from now, I’ll tell my kid I played with Aaron Rodgers. I try not to think about it too much at this point just because we’re going to work and he’s my teammate, and that’s gonna be the mindset. But the reality of it is it’s awesome, man. It is awesome having someone like that around the facility, and I just can’t wait to keep working.”"

As for reasonable expectations, anything less than a postseason appearance would be considered a failure this season. The reality is that Rodgers was sent to New York to win a Super Bowl. If that isn’t achieved during his tenure, then all of this hype was for naught.
