Kentucky basketball: John Calipari could turn to NDSU transfer Grant Nelson

If John Calipari is still in the market for a big man, there’s certainly a few left in the transfer portal. With Hunter Dickinson off the board, all eyes will shift toward former North Dakota State forward Grant Nelson.

Kentucky basketball has already shown interest in Nelson, but they’re not alone. Among those schools who are also rumored to be looking to land the talented big name are St. John’s, Alabama, Miami, and Texas Tech.

Nelson is testing the NBA Draft waters, so this chatter could be all null and void. However, if Nelson decides to return to college, he’ll certainly be a player that Coach Cal will be recruiting tirelessly over the next few weeks.

Grant Nelson averaged nearly 18 points and 10 rebound at NDSU and was named First-Team All-Summit League this past season. Nelson is not an outside threat, but that’s never really been a trait of the big men that John Calipari recruits. Nelson would be a terrific get for the Kentucky basketball program.
