Jordan Love is tied to the Green Bay Packers organization for at least two more seasons. Brian Gutekunst made sure of that, with some extra team incentives to boot.

Life without Aaron Rodgers is off to a good start in Green Bay. The offense is expected to look different under Jordan Love, but the Packers have been preparing for this moment for quite some time.

Love, for his part, has been working hard all offseason, even inviting some of the Packers young targets to join his private workout sessions. The vibe in Green Bay is excellent right now, if only because of the excitement, uncertainty and unbridled enthusiasm.

That will last until training camp, at the very least. Then it all gets real.

As for the Green Bay front office, their season never ends. The NFL Draft was just last week, and the Pack added several weapons to Love’s offense, including tight end Luke Musgrave, wide receiver Jayden Reed, tight end Tucker Kraft, wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, running back Lew Nichols III, wide receiver Grant DuBose and even a backup quarterback in Penn State’s Sean Clifford.

With all these added weapons, Green Bay has increased expectations of Love. There’s no reason they should miss out on a playoff berth next season, as the roster is too talented. No Rodgers, no problem, right?

That’s why Love’s new contract comes with all sorts of different team-related incentives, such as making the postseason and more.

By ensuring Love benefits when the team benefits, there is no odd middle ground. Even if Green Bay is a run-heavy squad with Love under center, assuming they win football games, he’ll reach his full contract valuation.

It’s a smart decision by a front office hoping to win while Love’s still on a cheaper quarterback contract.
