NBA Mock Draft: Who each lottery team should take with the No. 2 pick
By Ian Levy
The Rockets are coming off a disastrous season — not just a terrible record, but significant regression by young players like Jalen Green and a complete lack of development by others, like last year’s No. 3 pick Jabari Smith Jr. Houston has replaced head Stephen Silas with Ime Udoka and will look to turn their wealth of young talent into a cohesive and up-and-coming unit whose versatility is an asset instead of a barrier.
In that context, the Rockets could really use a player who helps bind the team together not just with his skills, but also his personality and intensity. Henderson is perhaps the most NBA-ready of the available options at No. 2, having spent the past two seasons in a starring role with the G League Ignite. He is an explosive athlete and crafty creator who could take over immediately at point guard, building chemistry with Green and Alperen Sengun, making things easier for Smith Jr. and Tari Eason and sliding Kevin Porter Jr. to a third guard role off the bench, to which he is probably best suited.
Henderson may be the best player available but he’s also the best fit for the Rockets.
