NBA Mock Draft: Who each lottery team should take with the No. 2 pick
By Ian Levy
The Hornets took a major step back this season. LaMelo Ball looks far shakier as a foundational piece and it seems increasingly likely that they’ll have to turn over the roster and trade veterans like Gordon Hayward and Terry Rozier before this team is ready to approach playoff competitiveness. However, Ball’s ball-dominance really locks them into a narrow range of choices if they miss out on Victor Wembanyama.
Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson both could fit with this team but they’d perhaps require some accommodations on the part of Ball. That may actually be the best scenario for the Hornets down the line but it’s a bigger risk. The safe pick is taking Miller, and plugging him in next to P.J. Washington in the frontcourt. His shooting and scoring touch make him the cleanest complement for Ball and leave things open for them to try and get as much as possible out of Hayward and Rozier before they have to make some additional moves down the line.
