NFL Christmas Day Schedule 2023: Who is playing on Christmas?

The NFL is trying to take over Christmas with another triple header on tap for the 2023 season. Which teams are playing on Christmas Day?

Christmas Day has long been considered the NBA’s featured holiday with the schedule featuring up to five matchups featuring the league’s marquee teams. The NFL has largely avoided Christmas Day except when it has fallen on a traditional day where games are played, usually playing one or two games at most.

That changed last season when the NFL scheduled a triple header on Christmas Day, a broad swipe at the NBA even though the trio of games selected looked good on paper but didn’t age well thanks to flops from the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals.  With Christmas set to be on a Monday this year, the NFL is going to give another go at establishing a holiday triple header to further compete with the NBA.

Which NFL Teams Are Playing On Christmas In 2023?

• Raiders at Chiefs — 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS
• Giants at Eagles — 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX
• Ravens at 49ers — 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC

The first game to be officially announced by the NFL is its 4:30 p.m. game on FOX, which features an NFC East grudge match between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. This looks like a fantastic matchup on paper as both teams made the playoffs last season and met in the Divisional Round with Philadelphia blowing out New York to reach the NFC Championship Game.

It’s not a surprise that the NFL is trying to lean on more established teams on the holiday after the flops from Denver and Arizona a year ago. Philadelphia is fresh off a Super Bowl appearance while the Giants play in the New York market, which should ensure good ratings for the game even if they aren’t as successful as they were in 2022.

Meanwhile, the early game on Christmas Day will be an AFC West rivalry clash between the Las Vegas Raiders and hosting Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. ET.
