Last night was a classic Coors Field game, a 9-8 win for the Colorado Rockies over the Cincinnati Reds.

Now, Cincy is 18-23 while Colorado is 18-24. Tonight is Game 2 of this series out in Denver and will feature Brandon Williamson making his major league debut for the Reds. Last night they had Matt McLain debut at shortstop, and today it’s Williamson on the mound.

The Rockies will look to go up 2-0 in this three-game series with Chase Anderson starting. This will be Anderson’s third outing and his first start of the season.

In his five innings of work for the Rays, so far he has yet to allow an earned run. Let’s take a look at the odds for Anderson’s first starts for the Rockies against Williamson’s debut.

Reds vs. Rockies prediction and pick

Yesterday was a disaster for Hunter Greene on the mound, so the Reds will have to hope that their next pitching prospect will have more success against Colorado.

In May, the Rockies are top 10 in OPS and have scored the seventh most runs this month.

Kris Bryant and Jurickson Profar both have an OPS in the .870s and Profar has seven extra base hits this month.

However, against lefties like Williamson the Rockies are 24th in team OPS and even with playing half of their games at Coors Field only have seven home runs off of left-handers. The Rockies might need some run support for Anderson.

While he hasn’t given up any runs in five innings for Tampa Bay this year he does come to Colorado with a 3.11 FIP and just two strikeouts to one walk.

Anderson doesn’t miss bats at all, so the ball will be in play a lot today and that’s bad news at Coors Field, not just because of the elevation, but because of the size of the outfield. I like the Reds with McLain in the lineup and Jonathan India with a .906 OPS this month, they’ll be able to have the upper-hand offensively.
