17. Los Angeles Rams
Projected Starter: Matthew Stafford

It seems like the entire football world has given up on the Los Angeles Rams. One year removed from a Super Bowl Championship, the Rams absolutely fell apart last season. Nothing went right, primarily Matthew Stafford’s health. The team tried to downplay his elbow injury to start the year, but it was clearly a major issue. He only played nine games, and he was clearly half the quarterback he was the year prior.

With so little expected of this franchise, maybe Stafford can fly under the radar. They still have Cooper Kupp, one of the best wide receivers in football. Sean McVay is still the head coach here. While there are major issues coming to roost after years of spending theoretical salary cap money, (the Rams have $73 million in dead cap according to Spotrac) there are pillars that could see the Rams beat the expectations.

However, it all starts with Stafford. He has to be fully healthy, and he must be at the top of his game. If the Rams get anything less, the quarterback situation is going to look much worse. Behind Stafford is *checks notes* Stetson Bennett?? We know he won the championship at Georgia, but this is a former walk-on who most thought had no business in the NFL.

Stafford is 35 years old. He theoretically should have at least a year or two of elite football left. We do need to see it to believe it. For now, he’s just under the halfway point for quarterbacks in the league.
