With Aaron Hicks designated for assignment by the New York Yankees, the question now becomes which MLB team will take a chance on him next?

On Saturday, the New York Yankees designated Aaron Hicks for assignment, cutting the cord on the 33-year-old outfielder who has been the subject of much angst among Yankees fans for his lack of production at the plate and his defensive blunders in the outfield.

Now the question becomes what happens next for Hicks. The Yankees have seven days from the DFA announcement to either trade Hicks or watch as another team claims him off waivers. A trade is highly unlikely, but a waiver pickup is somewhat possible.

MLB Rumors: Where will Aaron Hicks land after being DFA’d by Yankees?

However, it’s also likely that other MLB teams will wait until Hicks becomes a free agent after that period and sign him for the league minimum. It’s an easier pill to swallow bringing Hicks on board than paying the rest of his contract that has two years and $19 million remaining after the 2023 season ends.

While Hicks is slashing just .188/.263/.261 in 76 plate appearances this season, there have been signs for hope in recent games as he is slashing .353/.450/.647 with two doubles and a home run over his last seven games.

Is that hope enough for other teams to take a chance on Hicks? It’s possible, so let’s take a look at three potential landing spots.
