NBA Twitter reacts to the Boston Celtics’ impressive Game 4 win over the Miami Heat to avoid elimination.

The Boston Celtics entered Tuesday night’s Game 4 in Miami down 0-3. No team has overcome such a deficit in NBA history, and talk of Boston’s weak-mindedness was prevalent in the national media.

After the Celtics appeared to lay down and die in Game 3 with a 128-102 loss, Boston deserves credit for this response. It might be too little, too late, but the series now shifts back to Bean Town for Game 5. No team has ever come back from an 0-3 deficit, but this is how it would start in theory — one win at a time.

NBA Twitter had a field day per usual, reacting to Boston’s resilience and Miami’s inability to advance to Jimmy Butler’s second NBA Finals.

History still favors Miami in this series… but the Celtics are the 2-seed, the reigning Eastern Conference champs, and arguably the most talented top-to-bottom team in the NBA. The Heat are the 8-seed. If ever there were a time to consider the possibility of an 0-3 comeback, this might be it.

On the other hand, the Heat still employ Jimmy Butler. He scored 29 points in the loss but only shot 42.9 percent from the field. Miami’s role players have been dominant all series, but Gabe Vincent turned his ankle in the fourth quarter and Kyle Lowry appeared to aggravate his right knee in the first half. The bumps and bruises are accruing for the Heat.

Butler has better nights to come. He regularly embarrassed the Celtics in Games 1-3 and he is capable of dominant clutch, close-out performances. Boston, however, will be on the ropes the rest of the way. The Celtics have played poorly as frontrunners this postseason, but they answered the call when Philly took a 3-2 lead in the conference semis and won two straight. Now, again on the brink of elimination, the Celtics answered the call.

We could be in for an exciting Game 5 on Thursday.
