The MLB Trade Deadline is the wildest time in the baseball season but when is the deadline date and time for the 2023 season?

No time gets crazier than when the MLB Trade Deadline is approaching. The rumors are flying around uncontrollably, players don’t know if they’ll be with the team they currently play for the next day, and fans can’t stop wishing for a new star to join their favorite club. It’s truly a wild time.

The 2023 MLB Trade Deadline figures to be absolute madness in that regard. Sure, we know that contenders like the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and even the slow-starting St. Louis Cardinals, among many others, will be looking to buy. And we also have an idea that teams like the Oakland A’s, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals and some others could be sellers.

But that doesn’t even address the elephant in the room, that elephant being two-way Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani. A free agent after this season, there has been constant speculation that the Angels could trade the worldwide sensation if Los Angeles is out of contention to avoid losing him in the offseason for nothing.

With all of this drama set to unfold on the trade market, though, fans are wondering when the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline will actually be.

When is the MLB Trade Deadline for the 2023 season?

The 2023 MLB Trade Deadline will be on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Though we don’t know for sure, the expectation is that the time of the deadline will be 6 p.m. ET or around there as it was a season ago.

For many years, the trade deadline in baseball was on July 31. Under the new CBA, though, MLB has allowed the deadline to be moved anywhere around the end of July or beginning of August to best suit the calendar. The Aug. 1 trade deadline allows it to be on a Tuesday, a weekday as the powers at be in baseball like for it to be.

That’s the date when all of the trade madness will subside, though. Until then, baseball fans should buckle in for what could be a wild ride.
