2 Yankees who’ve earned an apology from their doubters, 1 not quite there

3) Yankees doubters can start drafting up an apology to Jake Bauers
Expectations for Jake Bauers weren’t all that high and frankly, why would they be? The Yankees are his fourth team since 2018. A high strikeout rate, a low batting average, and some overstated power are what have highlighted his career.
Due to several injuries and poor performances from players like Aaron Hicks, Bauers earned himself a little more playing time with the Yankees. Whether it’s at a corner outfield spot, first base, or a start as the DH, Bauers has been a solid addition to the roster.
A pair of home runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers last weekend helped make a statement that maybe he can contribute. He can be an above-average home run threat in the lineup for this team. Perhaps a little too streaky for the liking of some, Bauers is one of those Yankees players fans may need to eventually apologize for doubting.
Now 10 for his last 32, Bauers is picking up a ton of slack with Judge missing. He even managed to pull off an impressive leaping catch on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox in left field.

Bauers is unlikely to earn a permanent spot in the starting lineup. The moment the Yankees can find an upgrade, they should. Until then, take advantage of any of the big hits Bauers can provide and get ready to tell him you’re sorry for ever thinking he’d be nothing more than filler material.
