Top 10 fantasy football dynasty wide receivers heading into 2023
One of the more inflated positions in fantasy football, there is a drastic difference between the top to mid-level wide receiver options.
But with so much talent, who will end up as the premier receivers in the NFL at the end of the 2023 fantasy season? Some are easy to pick out, but the break between WR5 and WR6 is a somewhat large gap in dynasty leagues.
Are you a manager that fills your roster with the best receiving options and then worries about the other positions later? Do you wait for “your guy” later in the draft? If you can’t manage to take one of the top four in the draft, you might just wait a few rounds.
When looking at dynasty, age is an important factor when building your team. Managers should keep that in mind when building a roster that can compete for a few years. If you go with one of the historically best in the league, you might be replacing them sooner.
Of the top 10 players under 25, the difference between WR5 and WR6 is 5 points per game. That’s a drastic difference. This leads me to my statement “you might just wait for a few rounds.” The points per game starting at WR6 are stagnant until around WR31 (for younger receivers)!
Before we break down the top 10 receivers to target in dynasty leagues, let’s look at some of those that almost made the list.
15. Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams
14. DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
13. Drake London, Atlanta Falcons
12. Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals
11. Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints
Now before we really delve deep into the top echelon of wide receivers, some older guys will make their mark because they can be league winners for your team.
Miami cracks the start of the top 10 with their WR2 on the team. Jaylen Waddle has the chance to even go higher on this list after the 2023 season if he can have more consistent play with Tua Tagovailoa.
With Tua being out so much last year, it really did affect some of the receiving game with different quarterbacks in and out of the starting lineup. Even with the rocky QB season, Waddle finished the 2022 season as WR8 in PPR.
Waddle averaged 15.2 points per game, which is about the mark you want to see to get into the top five. He’s going to have more opportunities with a healthy Tua, while Tyreek Hill takes coverage away.
I’d buy Jaylen this season if you haven’t gotten a share of him. He’s going to have a big uptick in numbers this season to launch him into WR5 territory next year.
