1. Giovanny Gallegos

Gallegos was one strike away from his ninth save of the season Wednesday. Instead, he served up a two-run home run to Yastrzemski, tieing the game at five before the game was lost in extra innings 8-5.

In 24 games this season, he is 1-3 with eight saves. He has an ERA of 3.51, five holds and two blown saves. He’s given 22 hits, 11 runs, 10 earned runs including. He has been a culprit in some of the team’s worst moments this season.

While a big part of the frustration, he has been one of the team’s better closing arms. He is in year one of a two-year deal worth $11 million. The deal has a team option for 2025.

If the team does decide to rebuild at the trade deadline, Gallegos could be a good option to flip for assets including more pitching or backup in the outfield. In any case, it’s hard to figure out a scenario where he’s more valuable to the Cardinals than as a trade asset.
