MLB Rumors: Tim Anderson is a two-time All-Star shortstop with a Silver Slugger award. He should get some attention from suitors before the trade deadline.

Anderson is in the final season of his seven-year contract worth $37.5 million with the White Sox. The deal has a team option for 2024, but he will likely be a free agent after this season. This does make him intriguing for a team looking for a shortstop with hopes of keeping him beyond this season.

Anderson is hitting .263/.300/.311 with an OPS of .611. He has nine doubles, seven stolen bases, 21 runs, and ten RBI. He has a .971 fielding percentage this season with 19 double plays and 62 putouts.

Anderson appears to be having a below-average season. It’s not a sure bet what has caused this decline. But it does make one wonder if it could be rectified with a change in scenery for Anderson. Former Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said recently it would be good for Anderson to get a fresh start elsewhere.

Let’s discuss some places Anderson could be traded to and one place that should be avoided.

MLB Rumors: The Dodgers should trade for Tim Anderson

The Dodgers have several pitchers on extended stays on the injured list this season. It doesn’t seem to be getting any better. The Dodgers will be active in the pitching market at the trade deadline. Bringing stability to their middle infield and another bat to their line-up could also be huge for the team.

The Dodgers depth chart has Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor as the active players at the position, with Gavin Lux on the 60-day injured list. Rojas and Taylor are each utility players. Anderson only plays shortstop and could provide a veteran presence for the middle infield. While he has not been productive at the plate this season, a change of scenery to a contending team could be just the jolt Anderson needs to turn things around.
