Why is Yankees-Red Sox game postponed tonight, June 17?
The day after the Red Sox hung 15 runs on the rival Yankees, the primetime rematch was postponed. Why was it postponed and when is the makeup date?
Despite the fact that the 2023 season has been far more kind to the New York Yankees than the Boston Red Sox, the rivalry thus far has been in favor of the latter.
Just last weekend, the Red Sox took two out of three against the Yankees in a stunning turn of events. But New York got a second crack at their AL East foes this weekend, beginning on Friday. The narrative of the rivalry, however, did not turn. Instead, it got worse for the Bronx Bombers.
Powered by a pair of Justin Turner home runs, including a back-breaking grand slam, Boston hung 15 runs on New York in a 15-5 drubbing to go up 3-1 in the season series. So you have to imagine the Yankees were eager to respond. Unfortunately for them — and for fans — they’ll have to wait.
On Saturday afternoon, it was announced that the Yankees-Red Sox game for tonight was postponed.
Why is Yankees-Red Sox game postponed tonight, June 17?
While fans in Boston would like you to believe that the Yankees’ pride was too damaged after Friday night’s 15-5 loss is the reason for the postponement, that’s not the case. The Yankees-Red Sox game on Saturday was postponed due to rainfall and more expected heavy rainfall throughout the rest of Saturday evening.
