The Braves rain delay at Citizens Bank Park for Game 2 of this series against the Phillies on June 21 has fans wondering when the game will start now.

The Atlanta Braves continued their red-hot play and ended that of the rival Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night in the first game of their series at Citizens Bank Park. So the stage was set for young AJ Smith-Shawver to face off with Aaron Nola in Game 2 on Wednesday night.

Unfortunately, a Braves rain delay from the 6:40 p.m. ET scheduled first pitch seemingly caused a lot of problems. The rain was coming down in Philadelphia and had fans wondering when the game would actually start.

And initially, the Phillies announced at the stadium that they were anticipating a 7:15 p.m. ET first pitch. But when that rolled around, there was nothing going on in the ballpark. So naturally, fans were wondering when the Braves-Phillies start time for Wednesday, June 21 was actually going to be.

Braves rain delay update: Braves-Phillies start time after weather delay

Update, 9:27 p.m. ET: The June 21 Braves-Phillies game has officially been postponed. With inclement weather still in the forecast for Thursday too, the game will be made up on Monday, Sept. 11 as part of a doubleheader.

David O’Brien of The Athletic reported that there has been no movement with the tarp on the field at Citizens Bank Park or with any players from either team. As such, there is no word on when the game will start in this rain delay.

More important to note, though, O’Brien later noted that the forecast for Thursday in Philadelphia is for more rain, meaning that the possibility of a doubleheader is severely lessened because it may not be possible to get one game in, much less two.

As such, the Braves and Phillies will likely try to do everything they can to play Wednesday’s game at some point when the weather, specifically the rain, lightens up.

We will keep you updated with any information about when the game between these NL East rivals will actually start, if it does.
