How many sets of twins have played in the NBA?

Amen and Ausar Thompson are expected to be drafted in the 2023 NBA Draft. They’ll join a small selection of other twins who have both made it to the NBA.
During the 2023 NBA Draft, Amen and Ausar Thompson are expected to be drafted by pro teams. The duo is projected to be off the board before the tenth pick, which would be a remarkably successful night for one family, and a historic one at that.
Let’s look at the history of twins in the NBA, and then broadly siblings who both played in the NBA as well.
How many sets of twins have played in the NBA all-time?
It’s a small group, to be sure. The answer, before the Thompson twins, is five twins. Amen and Ausar will have a chance to make it six.
Here’s a look at every set of twins who have both made it to the NBA:
- Dick and Tom Van Arsdale
- Horace and Harvey Grant
- Jason and Jarron Collins
- Brook and Robin Lopez
- Marcus and Markieff Morris
As CBS Sports pointed out, no set of twins have ever both been drafted in the top 10 picks. The only other sibling pair to ever do it was Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, but notably, that was not in the same draft year. This year, Kris Murray could join the Ball brothers in that regard as well, since his brother Keegan was selected in the top-10 during last year’s draft.
How many siblings have played in the NBA together?
