Twins vs. Braves prediction and odds for Tuesday, June 26
By Josh Yourish
They don’t have the best record in the MLB, but there may not be a better team in baseball than the Atlanta Braves who beat the Minnesota Twins 4-1 last night at home. The Braves are 51-27 and have won 11 of their last 12 games. Minnesota is another division leader, first place in the AL Central, but only at 40-40.
For Game 2 the Braves will go with Bryce Elder who is 5-1 with a 2.40 ERA against Joe Ryan who is 8-4 for Minnesota with a 2.98 ERA. It’s not the same as yesterday when Spencer Strider and Sonny Gray took the mound, but this is another great pitching matchup in Minnesota.
Twins vs. Braves odds, run line and total
Twins vs. Braves prediction and pick
The Atlanta Braves have been the best offensive team in baseball for most of the year, but especially in June. They have scored 150 runs which is 18 more than the Reds who are the second place team in the league. They have also hit the most home runs with 49. However, they could have a tough time against Ryan who is coming off a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts against Boston.
Joe Ryan has 100 strikeouts to 15 walks and has only allowed eight home runs all season. Four of those came in his first four starts of the season, but since then he’s barely allowed anything. His FIP is 2.78 His expected ERA is even better at 2.48 while he only has a barrel rate in the 89th percentile with an expected slugging of .318 which is 89th percentile.
Bryce Elder on the other hand has a FIP over a run higher than his ERA. His FIP is 3.72 while his expected ERA is 3.77. Despite Elder’s initial numbers looking better than Ryan’s, Minnesota has the edge on the mound in this one and that’s enough for me to take them as an underdog.
