NBA rumors: Darius Garland trade rumors get shut down immediately
After vague comments by Brian Windhorst, Darius Garland’s name popped up in NBA rumors. But Windhorst shut that down immediately.
Yesterday, Brian Windhorst, made vague but explosive comments about the Cavs preparing for a mind-blowing trade that he couldn’t share. Following this development, there were rumors that the team would end up trading Darius Garland. But those rumors were shut down by Brian Windhorst. So, Garland is off the table but the Cavs are still cooking up something.
The Cavs ended up making the first round of the playoffs after trading for Donovan Mitchell. They were unable to get past the Knicks because they couldn’t really score in the halfcourt. This may change if the team ends up making a big move.
What move will the Cavs make this offseason?
Honestly, there isn’t a big clue about what kind of move the Cavs will make. Looking at their cap sheet, it seems like Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland are safe from being traded. Evan Mobley who has two more years of rookie control might allow the team to make a move for a big superstar. Still, the Cavs will not be trading Mobley for anything other than an All-NBA player, most likely.
The Cavs will not be trading first-round picks due to the fact that the team traded a lot of those picks in the Mitchell trade. They could offer swaps but those will not have much value.
Jarrett Allen just signed an extension in the last couple of years but he may be the player who ends up getting moved. He really struggled against the Knicks in the playoffs and they may see if they can get more floor spacing for him and let Mobley take over at center instead of their two-towers approach.
Allen has a lot of trade value but he might not be the best fit for the Cavs if they are trying to speed up their offense.
