Red Sox-Marlins rain delay updates and Boston weather forecast as we try to determine when the restart time will be for the June 28 game.

The Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins were in a pitchers duel on the night of Wednesday, June 28 with a pair of solo home runs, one apiece, being the only scores on the board for the night, the game tied at 1-1. But dark clouds around the stadium were looming.

Then the rain started. Then, with one out in the top of the sixth inning, there was lightning seen near Fenway Park, causing the umpires to immediately call for a rain delay of the game.

With the game knotted at one run apiece, though, they obviously aren’t going to be able to call the game on Wednesday night as there has to be a winner. So that had Red Sox and Marlins fans alike wondering when the game would restart.

Red Sox-Marlins restart time: Rain delay updates, Boston weather forecast

The thunderstorms in Boston around the Fenway Park area are supposed to lessen up around 10 p.m. ET. That should put a restart time in the 10:30-11 p.m. ET range, based on the weather forecast for the area and our projections.

That is the likely course of action with the storm seemingly making its way out of the area. Having said that, the Red Sox and Marlins are scheduled to play Game 3 of their series on Thursday, so if there was a need to postpone the finish, they have the flexibility to do so with a clear forecast for June 29.

As for the action before the rain delay on Wednesday, though, it was Garrett Cooper and Rafael Devers who deposited balls into the outfield bleachers for the scoring with each team just having three hits total through five innings.

We will keep you informed with any further Red Sox-Marlins rain delay updates as the night goes forward.
