Group H of this year’s World Cup includes a debutant and three runners-up including the runners-up in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina, Women’s Euros, and AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

With Martina Voss-Tecklenburg at the helm, the two-time Women’s World Cup winners are aiming for a much improved finish from 2019. Alexandra Popp’s six goals last summer nearly made the Germans the champions of Europe. Luckily for them, a year later they have another shot at a much more illustrious piece of silverware. Popp is accompanied by star midfielder Lena Oberdorf, and Lina Magull of Bayern Munich among others within this squad. If the Germans where to win the group (which they should), it will set up a blockbuster clash in the knockout stage against most likely Brazil or France out of Group F.

Out of CONMEBOL, Nelson Abadía’s Colombia used five players with two or more goals to make it all the way to the final of the Copa América Femenina. Although, the Colombians came up short against Pia Sundhage’s Brazil team the now eight-time winners needed a penalty to earn the result. The South American side has never came up against any of the teams that they will face in group play to kick off the World Cup. This is a nation nobody can sleep on. Abadía’s team possesses talented individuals like 18-year-old Linda Caicedo from Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid’s Leicy Santos. In order to make it out of the group, the Colombians are more than likely going to need a result against the South Koreans.

With legendary footballer Ji So-yun leading the way, Colin Bell’s South Korea women’s national team nearly lifted 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup title. A goal by Xiao Yuyi in stoppage time in the tournament’s final lifted the Chinese to a narrow 3-2 triumph. This will be the nation’s third straight appearance in the World Cup.

For the first time in its history, the Moroccan women’s national team has earned a place in a major tournament. The women’s team hopes they can build off a surprise fourth-place finish from its men’s team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Morocco hosted the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time ever, clawing its way to the final against South Africa in order to be among this 32 team field.
