2023 Leagues Cup Round of 16: Inter Miami vs. FC Dallas results

Only one match was played in the 2023 Leagues Cup, Round of 16, but if you were into amazing-looking goals, own goals, and a penalty shootout, then you had it all in the Inter Miami vs. FC Dallas match.
This was, for sure, a great way to start off the 2023 Leagues Cup Round of 16 matches. Inter Miami and FC Dallas had a lot of rave leading up to this match, from Lionel Messi to FC Dallas trying to stay unbeaten against Inter Miami. Everything was covered in this match, from free-kick goals to players making errors causing their own goals and a shootout.
Inter Miami kept the ball a lot more than FC Dallas could. Inter Miami could keep possession 67 percent of the time, whereas FC Dallas could only keep it 33 percent of the time. Both FC Dallas and Inter Miami got 12 shots off, but Inter Miami got more shots on goal, 5-4. Yellow cards were not a big issue in this match, with both teams only getting one on each side.

Altogether, both teams were able to score eight goals, but not all of the goals were done by the other team. Here is a rundown of the goals scored for this match.
In the 6th minute of this contest, the Argentine star, Lionel Messi, was able to sink an incredible shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner of the goal. Inter Miami leads 1-0.
In the 37th minute, FC Dallas came storming back with Facundo Quignon got a perfect cross that landed right to his foot and put it into the bottom left of the goal. Match tied 1-1
In the 45th Minute, FC Dallas was able to do what a lot of people did not think this was going to happen, that is, take the lead with Bernard Kamungo being able to slip past a defender and get the goalkeeper off his line, coming up with the shot to the bottom left of the goal. FC Dallas leads 2-1.
In the 63rd minute, a free kick was taken into the middle of the box that landed right into Alan Velasco. Velasco placed the shot into the left portion of the goal. FC Dallas leads 3-1.
In the 65th minute, Inter Miami was moving the ball in the attacking zone when the ball was passed up to Benjamin Cremaschi, who got the ball past the goalkeeper at the center top part of the goal. FC Dallas leads 3-2.
In the 68th minute, FC Dallas was moving the ball down the field into a four-on-three attack when Inter Miami’s Robert Taylor came up from behind and slid to knock a pass away, causing the ball to go into the goal past his own goalkeeper for an own goal. FC Dallas leads 4-2.
In the 80th minute, Inter Miami was taking a free kick that went into the middle of the box; FC Dallas’s Marco Farfan tried to head the ball away but hit it the wrong way causing it to go past his own goalkeeper for an own goal. FC Dallas leads 4-3.
In the 85th minute, Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi set up a free kick outside of the box and took the shot at the goal, giving the ball enough power to get it past the goalkeeper at the upper left part of the goal. Match tied 4-4.
Full-time is called, and a shootout takes place
The match lasted 90 minutes plus an extra seven minutes for stoppage time. After everything was said and done, the match was tied 4-4.
The shootout started with Inter Miami starting the shootout. Both players from each team make the penalty kick in the first round. Inter Miami makes the kick in the second round, but Paxton Pomykai from FC Dallas kicks it high and over the net. For rounds three and four, both teams score. In the fifth round, all Benjamin Cremaschi has to do is score the goal. Cremaschi sets up and kicks, sending the goalkeeper the other way and scoring the goal.
Inter Miami wins the match 4-4 (5-3 penalty kicks). With this win, Inter Miami moves on to the round of 8, and it will be found out who they will be playing.
