Bobby Petrino will either save Jimbo Fisher or stab him in the back by November

We are approaching similar territory with Mel Tucker at Michigan State that Jimbo Fisher already occupies at Texas A&M. To say last season in College Station was an unmitigated disaster would be such a gross understatement. The Aggies went 5-7. 5-7! The season after landing the best recruiting class of all time. They were the first team in the SEC to fail to achieve bowl eligibility.

With Fisher reluctantly giving up play-calling duties to the greatest human being of all time in the absolutely delightful Bobby Petrino, this is either going to work out wonderfully for Gig Em, or it will be a scorched earth armageddon, snake-oil-salesman-infused bonfire of epic proportions. If this fails, it will be the definition for what is a tire fire. Conversely, it might work and they win 10.

For better or worse, the 2023 Aggies will be must-watch TV for so many reasons. They might be good enough to be a top-10 team in the country, or they may be the greatest national embarrassment the SEC has seen since whatever the hell Bryan Harsin did for a year and change down on The Plains at Auburn. The only team we need to watch more of than Texas A&M is Iowa.

If this fails in College Station, then Fisher and Brian Ferentz will deserve each other and partner up.
