Boston College sadly became directionless under Jeff Hafley last college season

Just when everyone in ACC country thought Boston College was going to take a big step forward last year, Jeff Hafley’s Eagles landed … right on their faces! BC went an absolutely dreadful 3-9 a season ago. This came after two commendable six-win campaigns, back-to-back. Hafley showed us how good of a coach he was in his first two years in Chestnut Hill, but last year was a disaster.

Again, with the ACC going division-less, it will serve a good, but not great program like BC in the end. However, they are now in the same bucket as rival Syracuse: go out and prove it, bro. Juggernauts like Clemson and Florida State will be fine, while a more balanced schedule may give a program like Louisville even more credibility in a much more evened-out ACC. But what about BC?

Hafley needs to get his Eagles back to a six-win team in short order. It may not be this season, but he cannot go 3-9 again and expect there to be a fourth year at the helm of this program. Yes, he will find another opportunity to lead a Power Five team somewhere down the line if it hits the fan for him in Chestnut Hill. It would be a shame if that happened, but last year left a sour taste.

BC is like Syracuse in that we have seen this place be a top-25 program that can go 8-4 regularly.
