Inter Miami and Charlotte FC come in for their MLS showdown to see who will move on in this 2023 Leagues Cup quarter-final match in Fort Lauderdale on Aug 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Inter Miami and Charlotte are one of two MLS showdowns that will take place in the 2023 Leagues Cup quarter-finals. Inter Miami and Charlotte have faced off against each other three other times before this meeting. Inter Miami leads the showdowns 2-1.

How did Inter Miami and Charlotte FC get to this point?

Inter Miami made it into the quarter-finals with a crazy comeback match to tie it with FC Dallas, which led to a penalty shootout. Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the sixth minute and then another fantastic show of power with a free kick outside the box in the 84th minute to force penalty kicks. Inter Miami won the penalty kicks with a final score of 4-2.

Charlotte had to work to get to this point by coming back to beat the Houston Dynamo. The Dynamo got in front with a tenth-minute goal. Patrick Agyemang of Charlotte was able to bring it to a tie with an 80th-minute goal, and then not even a minute later, Dynamo’s Micael scored in his own goal to give Charlotte the 2-1 victory.

Inter Miami has produced at least three goals across all competitions in their last ten games. Inter Miami can not be stopped at home; they are unbeaten in their previous five matches, winning the last three. Charlotte is coming into this match winless in their previous six away matches.

With Lionel Messi being able to score in all four games across the 2023 Leagues Cup, this might be a huge factor when they play Charlotte. That does not mean Charlotte might be able to try to pull something out, but with Inter Miami’s form, coming from the worst team in the MLS to becoming the favorite to win the Leagues Cup, this might be an easy walk for Inter Miami. The prediction for this match is Inter Miami beats Charlotte with a final score of 3-0.
