USMNT news: Balogun to West Ham, Adams to Chelsea, Turner joins Forest
Today’s USMNT news includes Folarin Balogun being linked with West Ham United. Tyler Adams could be on his way to Chelsea and Matt Turner has joined Nottingham Forest.
USMNT news: Folarin Balogun to West Ham United
AS Monaco has already had a bid rejected by Arsenal for Folarin Balogun this week and it remains to be seen if the French club are willing to go back in for the USMNT forward. There are a lot of teams interested in Balogun but the Gunners’ valuation of the player is making negotiations difficult.
The Independent has reported that “West Ham and Monaco are emerging as main competitors for Folarin Balogun as they are currently the only two clubs capable of meeting Arsenal’s £40m-plus asking price.”
Inter Milan have also been linked with Balogun but he has been deemed too expensive for the club. One way the move to the Italian side could work has been revealed by Calciomercatio, “Mikel Arteta is willing to sell Folarin Balogun and Takehiro Tomiyasu to Inter, who are no longer part of his project and who are instead of interest to the Nerazzurri, in exchange for Nicolo Barella.”
Inter are thought to be Balogun’s preferred destination. However, a move to West Ham would enable him to test himself in the Premier League. The Hammers also need a striker after they let Gianluca Scamacca join Atalanta.
USMNT news: Tyler Adams to Chelsea
Tyler Adams looks set to finally escape from Championship side Leeds United and return to the Premier League. According to Andrea Korssund, “Adams is closing in on a move to Chelsea. The Blues are now ready to trigger the £20m buyout clause. The player has already agreed personal terms and is waiting for the green light to do medical tests.”
The USMNT captain needs to be playing at the highest level and joining the Blues would be a fantastic move for him. The transfer is fitting as Adams made his debut and scored for the New York Red Bulls in a friendly against Chelsea back in 2015.
USMNT news: Matt Turner joins Nottingham Forest
Matt Turner has completed his move from Arsenal to Nottingham Forest. Speaking of the move to Forest’s official website, Turner said: “When I heard that there was interest to bring me here, it just felt right for my family, it felt right when my agent spoke to me about it and it feels like the right move for me right now.”
There is uncertainty as to whether the American will be Steve Cooper’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, as the club is also looking to sign Dean Henderson. However, Turner will likely play this weekend against his former teammates as Forest take on the Gunners.
